This is no big secret, type 1 diabetes is chronic, it’s a lifelong disease and the pancreas can’t produce insulin enough to control blood sugar levels. So, what more is there to be said?

Not much, if you got it you got it, but maybe you can alert someone else before they get it.

What is Type 1 Diabetes?

This type of diabetes is when insulin, which lowers blood sugar by allowing it to leave the bloodstream and enter cells, can’t do this anymore. Everyone needs insulin. People with type 1 diabetes can’t make their own insulin. They must take insulin every day.

This is done through injections , from one to four times a day.

People are taught how to give insulin injections by their health care provider or a diabetes nurse educator. If you a child injections may be given by a parent or other adult. By age 14, most children can be expected (but should not be required) to give their own injections.

Signs

Here are some common symptoms associated with diabetes:

Deep, rapid breathing

Dry skin and mouth

Flushed face

Fruity breath odor

Nausea or vomiting, unable to keep down fluids

Stomach pain

It should be noted that you can have another form of diabetes called Ketoacidosis, this is when you have high blood sugar readings. More common is low blood sugar.

Management

Once diagnosed, your treatment is to manage this condition.

Diabetes is a lifelong disease for which there is not yet a cure. However, the outcome for people with diabetes varies. Studies show that tight control of blood glucose can prevent or delay complications to the eyes, kidneys, nervous system, and heart in type 1 diabetes. However, complications may occur even in those with good diabetes control.

You know the score monitoring, diet, exercise, low sugar signs to watch for and how to quickly balance yourself.

Discipline and making adjustments is the key to long term health.

Natural Cures

Wow, researching this area one comes across a whole universe of options. One thing that makes sense is if you can catch this condition early, there is a chance to cure this. But, we have to be careful when stating this because any attempt to do this on your own could be damaging to your health.

Having said that, it’s worth to look at the options available through natural means. There’s some good data about how the immune system can attack your pancreas, this is an area you can look at.

Having type 1 diabetes definitely will force you to learn a lot more about how your body works, think of this as something positive.

You have a generic diabetic diet, now you have something called a diabetic exchange diet and finally there divided into calorie categories. Is that confusing enough for you, will break it down so it’s understandable for you.

In general, a person with diabetes has a problem processing sugars. So staying away from sweets, sugars, and yes fats, is your first step.

There are so many diet plans to choose from, there’s no reason to list them all here. If you can’t find any on this page, then you can find some at the Diabetic Diet list.

Diabetic Exchange Diet

What is it? This system is a food grouping system where your calories, size, weight, age and more are evaluated. The nutritionist will put a variety of foods, in the same group, that is tailored to your needs.

The exchange part is where you can replace any food within a group for another, this adds variety to your diet.

For example a diet plan with 1400 calories offers enough calories to meet nutritional needs when planned in a well-balanced manner, and still is low enough in calories to assist an individual who needs to lose weight. Even with minimal exercising effort it’s likely that someone eating 1400 calories will lose weight.

The key with this diet is consistency. Skipping meals throws the whole plan off, snacking in between meals disrupts your calorie count and if you need to eat between meals choose vegetables or the likes.

Success with any diabetic diet depends on sticking with the plans frequency and recommended foods for your situation. The one cool thing about the exchange diet is you have choices, it takes out the boredom of always eatting the same thing. Discipline is still required.

1400 Calorie Diabetic Exchange Diet

Well, by now you have a good idea of what this diet is about.

The food groups for most of these diets are the same, what varies depends on the individuals needs. A certified nutritionist is the one who will fill each of these food groups with foods you’ll need. Of course, you will not stick right to 1400 calories, but this is a guide and if you consume 1800 calories your way outside the guidelines.

Why Count Calories?

Diabetes, in most cases, is related to an over weight condition. So these exchange diets are tied into calories for both the diabetes condition and weight loss.

One of the things with diets is nutrition. Diets of the past have been
nutritionally starved which accomplished weight loss, but did damage in the column of nutrition.

You can create one of these calorie exchange diets for yourself, but make sure it’s balanced nutritionally. In researching this subject we found so many diet plans, you should have no problem finding a diabetic diet plan that suits you.

There’s a lot of chatter about Eleotin. Since there is interest and evidence that it works, lets highlight some of the questions asked.

What is it?

ELEOTIN® is a safe health food that restores the body’s own ability to control blood glucose levels. ELEOTIN® gently helps to control blood glucose levels not only temporarily, but also results in long term permanent or semi-permanent molecular level changes. ELEOTIN® helps to regenerate the insulin receptors of muscle or liver cells. It also helps to regenerate the insulin producing ß (beta) cells in the pancreas. It is an all-natural, safe, and gentle herbal product with no harmful side effects.

Who Made it?

ELEOTIN® was initially developed by the scientists at the Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research Center (JMDRC) at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The JMDRC is a leader in research on the cause, cure, and prevention of Type I and Type II diabetes. After the initial development by the JMDRC, research and development continued on by Eastwood Bio-Medical Research Inc. (EMBR) and other researchers.

What’s in it?

Some of the contents are dried roots, stems, fruit and leaves, all from various plants. These herbal plants are all registered with pharmacopoeias and food codes in several countries. In fact, all these ingredients are so safe that in many countries, these ingredients are classified as foods, not as drugs.

The most important ingredients are Platycodi Radix (Root), Schizandrae Fructus (Fruit), Capsella Bursa (Stem), Glycyrrhizae Radix (Root), Astragalus Membranaceus Bunge (Root), Lycium Chinese (Fruit), Dioscorea Japonica Thunberg (Root), and others.

How Does it Work?

This is the most important part of this post, does it work? There’s a lot of evidence that it does, knowing how it works reinforces it’s effectiveness.
It starts in the digestive process. It helps decompose carbohydrates into glucose at a healthier rate. This is beneficial because it helps avoid the harmful sudden rises in glucose levels after a meal.

ELEOTIN® assists in the digestive process by providing natural substances that restore the balance among digestive enzymes. Also, it provides rich, natural fibers that help with the digestive process.

Medical doctors would say this assists to “inhibit the breakdown of carbohydrates through alpha glucohydrolase.” This in turn controls the rate of digestion of carbohydrates so that a sudden rise of blood sugar is minimized .

The last question is, is it safe? Of course you want to check with your doctor when adding any herbal or otherwise supplement to your diet. But, all the evidence points to a completely safe product.

Check some of the outlets here for more information and testimonials.

These diabetes facts won’t help you with your problem, but some people find it interesting to read.

These were taken form the WHO (world health organizations) website, you can read more by going to the WHO.

Facts

* At least 171 million people worldwide have diabetes; this figure is likely to be more than double by 2030.
* Around 3.2 million deaths every year are attributable to complications of diabetes; six deaths every minute.
* The top 10 countries, in numbers of sufferers, are India, China, USA, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Brazil Italy and Bangladesh.
* Overall, direct health care costs of diabetes range from 2.5% to 15% of annual health care budgets, depending on local diabetes prevalence and the sophistication of the treatment available.
* The costs of lost production may be as much as five times the direct health care cost, according to estimates derived from 25 Latin American countries.
* Recent studies in China, Canada, USA and several European countries have shown that feasible lifestyle interventions can prevent the onset of diabetes in people at high risk.

The global burden of diabetes

A diabetes epidemic is underway. An estimated 30 million people worldwide had diabetes in 1985. A decade later, the global burden of diabetes was estimated to be 135 million. The latest WHO estimate – for the number of people with diabetes, worldwide, in 2000 – is 171 million. This is likely to increase to at least 366 million by 2030. Two major concerns are that much of this increase in diabetes will occur in developing countries, due to population growth, ageing, unhealthy diets, obesity and sedentary lifestyles, and that there is a growing incidence of Type 2 diabetes – which accounts for about 90% of all cases – at a younger age. In developed countries most people with diabetes are above the age of retirement. In developing countries those most frequently affected are in the middle, productive years of their lives, aged between 35 and 64.

The number of deaths attributed annually to diabetes is around 3.2 million. Diabetes has become one of the major causes of premature illness and death in most countries, mainly through the increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

You probably have heard the term Sugar Diabetes, it’s also know as type 2 diabetes and mellitus.

This is the stage where your entering the warning zone for future problems.

These cases are typically ranging between the ages of 30 to 45, these are the averages, but in recent time the ages are dropping. We are even seeing children with cases of diabetes increasing at alarming rates.

Normal blood sugar levels are between 65 and 140. High blood sugar levels fall between 250 and 350, while very high levels are over 350.

In a nut shell your metabolism is what digests food for growth and energy. Most of the food we eat is broken down by our digestive juices into simple sugar. This simple sugar is called glucose which is the main source of fuel for the body. For this source of fuel to get into the cells insulin must be present. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas.

Signs

Lets review some of the symptoms associated with diabetic conditions.

excessive thirst

excessive urination

thrush

extreme hunger

unusual weight loss

extreme fatigue

irritability

nausea

vomiting

sweet smelling breath

The key is if any of these signs linger on past normal levels, then your doctor can do the appropriate tests for diabetes.

Complications

Many people don’t even know they have a pre-diabetic condition. You may think that fatigue is just the normal feeling after a long day, and most of the time it is. What if you don’t recharge properly?

These are the signs you must look for.

What happens if this condition goes unattended? Well, it’s not good, look at a few things that can occur.

Heart Disease

Stroke

Kidney Failure

Sciatica

Diabetic Retinopathy

Over time elevated glucose levels will cause these problems if your diabetes is left unattended. Also, you cells are starving for oxygen.

Immune System

Type 1 diabetes is associated with immune problems. You might be interested to know that immune disorders can be traced to a large number of health problems. The by product of this is inflammation.

Sugar diabetes is the old general term, diabetes is now broken down into several different terms. You can’t beat old fashion exercise and diet, but you need to look at other things to help your body.

There are natural and effective ways to keep your immune system tuned up, take a look at what you can do.

If you find out what causes diabetes, then you can do the things to prevent it. Does this mean you definitively won’t get it? No, but you’ll increase your odds of not getting it.

It’s common knowledge that diet and lifestyle are factors in many ailments including diabetes. Each person has a unique situation, your doctor can do tests that indicate if your headed for problems, it’s worth the time to do this.

Since diabetes is an increasing problem in the U.S. and affects more than 20 million adults, take the time to see what things you can do for prevention.

Causes

Lets list some of the primary causes..

Diet

Immune System Disorder

Obesity

Virus infections

Age

Stress

Smoking

Inherited

You’ve heard the word Sugar Diabetes, this is a general term used for your body’s inability to regulate blood sugar.

Blood sugar level is determined by the amount of glucose in the blood. Glucose is produced when we digest starchy foods such as bread, rice and potatoes, and sweet foods including sugar and chocolate. Glucose is also made in the liver.

Insulin is a hormone that carries glucose through the cells of our bodies, where it is used to produce energy. Sugar diabetes sufferers either have a lack of insulin, or cannot use what they have efficiently.

Special Causes for Type 2 Diabetes

Ethnicity, particularly when a close relative had type 2 diabetes or gestational diabetes: certain groups, such as African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Japanese Americans, have a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes than non-Hispanic whites.

Aging: Increasing age is a significant risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Risk begins to rise significantly at about age 45 years, and rises considerably after age 65 years.

Type 1 Diabetes

When it comes to what causes type 1 diabetes you will find a common consensus pointing to the immune system.

This is where your white cells, for unknown reasons, attack various parts of your body. In the case of diabetes, this is your pancreas. It could be a virus that sets off this reaction, it could be inherited, as you see there is no definitive answer to the reason why.

This is the reason that type 1 diabetes renders you insulin dependent for the rest of your life.

Your immune system is at the center of many health problems. Since this is one of the causes of diabetes, it will benefit you to take a closer look at some things you can do to balance it.
